Country fans, we’ve got another wild “Who’s Your Daddy?” moment on our hands… and it’s everything we wanted and more.
If you’ve been keeping up with Zach Top — the smooth-voiced country crooner bringing back that ‘90s smokehouse twang — then you might’ve heard the jokes and rumors buzzing around about who his real father is. Yep, classic Maury vibes, but this time with a banjo and a neon beer sign.
It all kicked off when folks (and even a radio DJ) started throwing out the theory that Alan Jackson — the mustachioed king of country crooning — might be Zach’s dad. And honestly? It made weird sense. Zach’s voice practically has a mullet of its own and could’ve come straight out of the ‘90s country vault.
But plot twist: Alan Jackson is not the father. (Insert dramatic daytime TV music here.)
Zach Top recently dropped by the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast with Taylor Lewan and Will Compton. While chatting about his love for football, his musical journey, and even golf (he’s apparently tight with PGA pro Chandler Phillips), he nonchalantly dropped a bombshell:
“I’m buddies with John Daly now. It’s insane.”
Hold up—did he say John Daly?! As in golf’s most legendary party starter? The man who treats Diet Coke like water and never met a cigarette he didn’t love?
Yep. And it doesn’t stop there.
Zach says good ol’ Daly hits him up on FaceTime — usually late (and tipsy), probably in a rowdy bar — just to tell him he’s proud of him. And what does he call Zach?
“Hey son, what are you doing?” Daly slurs into the phone.
“Just wanted to let you know your dad loves you.”
I mean… if that doesn’t make your heart melt faster than a Busch Light on a tailgate, I don’t know what does.
The internet clearly agrees. The “Zach Top is John Daly’s son” jokes are flying, and honestly, we kind of love this chaotic father-son energy. Daly’s got the wild legacy, Zach’s got the twang—it’s a match made in honky-tonk heaven.

Whether Daly’s actually his dad or just the honorary title-holder of “Drunken Golf Dad,” we’re here for it. It’s funny, it’s wholesome in a country-boy way, and it’s just another reason to keep Zach on your playlists and Daly in your “legends who live rent-free in my brain” file.
Wanna listen to the whole episode and hear Zach talk about Nashville, his musical rise, and his new dad Daly? We got you:
And while you’re at it, if you haven’t listened to Zach’s “Sounds Like The Radio,” do yourself a favor and crank that up while crushing a cold one. If this is what new country sounds like, the genre is in very good hands.
Long live Daly. Long live Zach. And long live these legendary “family” connections only country music could give us.
